A Sofa Made of Balenciaga Clothing, Plus More Clever Finds

Here at Clever, we’re all about finding the good stuff—unexpected decorating ideas, day-brightening accents and furnishings, news you need to know—and then delivering that info directly to you. Here’s a roundup of five things that stopped us in our tracks this week that we wanted to be sure you don’t miss.

A Balenciaga sofa that’s not what you think Balenciaga and designer Harry Nuriev created a reimagined sofa full of discarded Balenciaga clothes for Design Miami. The sofa is a classic shape, filled with unsellable Balenciaga fabric and covered in scrapped vinyl. The piece “reflects Balenciaga’s recognition of the responsibility designers have to counterbalance their environmental impact, and dedication to implementing programs that upcycle waste and contribute to a circular economy.” crosby-studios.com

White foam shapes used for seating (and stretching!) have a cloudlike effect, while the large plywood units sit on castor wheels so they can be easily moved aside for weekly customer activations.

Outdoor Voices brings a slice of West Texas to Fifth Avenue For the 10th permanent store of cult activewear brand Outdoor Voices, director of store design and development Will Fox looked to artist Walter de Maria’s 1968 Earth Room for inspiration, creating a clean and airy space lined with live cacti and rocks native to OV’s hometown, Austin. The new space, opening Friday, November 29, also features OV’s signature plywood accents, fitting rooms that echo retro tile-lined swimming pools, and (gasp) an offering of snacks from L.A. cult wellness store Erewhon Market. (Yes, that’s 2x the cult brands.) “We’ve always thought about our stores as being a resource for people,” explains Will. “[Founder] Ty [Haney] always talks about being the hiking buddy who brought the snacks, so we’ll actually be offering them in this store.” Because let’s be honest, after “hiking” around NYC all day, you’re bound to need a handful of pepitas. outdoorvoices.com
